Ojo Caliente
Ojo  Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa

Allow me to bring you up to date on a 10,000 year old story!!

For thousands of years, artifacts suggest, native peoples have passed by Ojo Caliente Hot Springs, in the high desert of North Central New Mexico! They came to soak in Ojo’s inventory of four different, sulfur free and beneficial minerals: Iron, Arsenic, Soda and Lithium.
Even warring tribes made peace here so they could soak in peace! Photobucket

Today, and after 8 years of total renovation ..and 3 years of final touches, Gabriela and I made a day of it to give you a review! Also..it's only a hike away from NewMexicoOutdoor.com ..although an advanced one!

First ..let me say that in the past 3 years..we’ve been there a few times to witness it’s upgrading first hand. Where to begin? Let me say that Ojo’s world class restaurant is still as it was, excellent! Secondly, it’s Hotel listed on the National Registry of Historic Places is still very much a part of Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs & Spa! Built in 1916, it’s warmth and “new” mission revival style adobe hotel sets the easy pace of your stay at Ojo Caliente: Photobucket

Ojo has 2- 3 & 4 bedroom guest homes for families or groups. With very well appointed “hotel-suite” rooms (The Pueblo Suites), The North Cottages: Photobucket and especially The Cliffside Suites (each with it’s own, private mineral springs soaking tub!), Ojo Caliente sets the way for accommodations, surely! PhotobucketPhotobucketFurthermore..with Rv Campsites and Camping campsites!..Ojo caters to all!!

Now for what we all come for! Soaking! Gabriela and I spent the first hour soaking in a private tub enclosure (clothing optional) and a mineral cuvee of Arsenic & Iron: Photobucket These private soaks all have their own kiva style fireplace for night soaks (open til 10pm) and winter soaks: Photobucket After an hour..the amazing New Mexico sun began to tell me it was time to try an enclosed pool or two: PhotobucketPhotobucket The Iron Pool not enclosed..but shady in places! These pools are Bathing Suit Required. After a nice soak in these two..we then popped into the outdoor Arsenic Pool ..which was cold..to close the pores. Photobucket On a Wednesday, with the parking lot full, we still felt that we had lots of privacy in these communal soaks and of course so ..in the Private Soak!

If Private soaking is your thing, and aside from the Private Soaks like we had, capacity 8 soakers, and the Cliffside Suites..which each have their own mineral spring tubs …and if that’s not enough ..there are clothing optional mineral baths in the Main Bath House!! Photobucket With the most inventory of sulfur free mineral springs on the planet, massive amount of pools and tubs and options…then add an impressive array of Massages and Yoga:Photobucket …and …and how bout hiking post Anasazi Ruins on the mesa above Ojo Caliente, Posi-Ouinge, and the 1,700 acres that front B-LM Land AND NewMexicoOutdoor.com (we've hike to Ojo!): Photobucket See the Tent Rocks in the foreground?

Folks, if you’re coming out to NewMexicoOutdoor ..be sure to plan a day or two at Ojo Caliente while you stay with us, many do! If you stay at Ojo Caliente..be sure to look over our Hiking page or our Trail Riding page and spend a day with us ..hit some balls at our Tennis Club …at the end of the day..back for a great soak at Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa! I genuinely feel wonderful! And for an almost 60 year old professional athlete, such as you look at me, it’s a testimonial to those hot springs today!
