The Lake Hike
This is supposed to be called The Lake Hike..but, as it is, what is denoted as a lake on all the maps ..is really a river..and really..for only a couple months of the year! So..as of now, Mid April..it’s a river from the snow-melt.

There is a lot more snow due to melt..and we’ll continue to do this hike..hoping that we actually see a lake! It’s a mesa hike..and Intermediate level, only about 2 hours and about 5 miles or less..there and back! Just a few hundred feet out our Guest Home doors is this canyon (arroyo) that leads down to those cliffs a couple miles away: Photobucket You never know what mystical things you’ll find in this arroyo: Photobucket The bottom is light hiking and with many recognizable landmarks ..we don’t need GPS (Cerro Pedernal ..always): PhotobucketPhotobucket La Sotella to the South: Photobucket and Sierra Negra to the West: Photobucket As you see..the “Lake” is a torrent during snow-melt (see movie below)!: Photobucket The dogs, except for Miss Ruby ..like to dive in: Photobucket ..and we return the same way in: Photobucket
