Turquoise Trail

The Turquoise Trail is Rt14 from the East Mountains of Albuquerque (Tijeras) to Santa Fe. It is a National Scenic Byway and is awesome, spectacular, varying, and surprising! Within this 50 mile or so drive are Sandia Crest (Sandia Ski): Photobucket And is one of the most awesome views I’ve ever laid my eyes on! All along the Turquoise are ghost towns in Golden: Photobucket Cerrillos: Photobucket
And by far the most famous Madrid: Photobucket..due to the hit Wild Hogs with John Travolta.

Madrid has, over the last decade become mainstream reformed ghost town and mecca for artists, art patrons and tourists headed up/down the Turquoise Trail.

We’ve been back down many times in the past 3 years!

Cerrillos in the Turquoise Trail

By: Dan Monaghan for The New Mexico Dept of Tourism

At its peak in the 1880's, Cerrillos had more than 20 saloons and hotels. They served the miners who populated the area during the boom years. Now Cerrillos is home to artists and fans of what the real ‘Old West’ was about. Cerrillos is south of Santa Fe on the Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway.
